This is my personal thinking on the matter. As someone who has, in the past, given my everything to others, I've felt used, abused and emotionally exhausted. I've found, personally, that when I take time to myself, I am a better friend, girlfriend and family member. Taking "me" time allows me to be 100% there for those I love when they need me without feeling exhausted and depleted. As I said, this is just my personal opinion/experience with this topic - it's totally different for everyone! I totally understand and respect your opinion. I realize you have to take care of you before you can begin to take care of others. I realize it theoretically. But my heart want to give until I can't give anymore. Recently, I've paid for a soldiers lunch, bought a homeless man a gift card for coffee (he hangs out at the DD near my pool) and carried an elderly ladies groceries to the car for her when the snow/slush in the parking lot made it difficult to push the cart.
